In June, a team that included Charles Sharpe (HCC Chancellor), Dave Barton (HCC Dean of Administration/Students), Martha Palmer (HCC Academic Dean), and myself (HCC President) traveled to the Philippines to do Leaders’ Conferences and hold outdoor evangelistic meetings with our pastor friends on the islands of Negros and Mindanao. Every year, on trips such as this one, we meet several young people in other nations with a strong desire be a part of our Bible College. On this trip we met an 18 year old girl, Jennilyn, who is a vibrant worship leader. She was an awesome young woman of God with a powerful call, and is exactly the type of student who would significantly benefit from a couple of years of study at HCC. These connections pointedly remind us why it is so important for us to find favor with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement regarding our participation in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. We have filed the application paperwork and had what seemed to be a very positive site visit in May. Please continue to pray that we have a positive outcome in regards to being able to accept international students.
Since my last update, we have received written credit transfer agreements from Liberty University and Central Christian College of the Bible. I have an appointment in August to work with St. Louis Christian College to arrange an agreement there also. Several of our alumni are already taking advantage of these credit transfers to continue their education, and we are very excited to provide this benefit to our students.
Currently we are all in preparation mode for the fall semester. We are planning to implement a new Learning Management System (LMS), which will enable us to do some of our classes in a hybrid form (a combination of online and in-class formatting). We believe the LMS will help us be a little more flexible and will help prepare our students who will continue their education, after graduation, through an online format.
As always, please keep us in your daily prayers. We are still accepting students for the Fall, and advancement of the college continues to be a large work in progress. Heartland Christian College appreciates your partnership in fulfilling our mission as we equip and prepare students for their next step in life!
